Fans attending the Modesto Nuts game against the San Jose Giants at John Thurman Field on Wednesday will get a nice surprise.
Seattle Mariners right-handed starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma is scheduled to make a rehabilitation start for the Nuts.
Iwakuma went on the disabled list on May 7 with shoulder inflammation.
Iwakuma is 63-39 in six years with the Mariners. He has a career ERA of 3.42 and made the American League All-Star team in 2013.

The Giants scored four runs in the second inning and held on for a 6-4 victory over the Nuts on Monday night in Modesto.
The loss is the second in row for Modesto, which saw its lead in the California League’s first-half North Division standings trimmed to one game over the Stockton Ports.
Joey Curletta put the Nuts ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single, but the Giants score four runs in the second inning.
