Shane Wilson will be crew chief for the No. 33 Chevrolet Sprint Cup team at Richard Childress Racing next season, working with driver Clint Bowyer.
That announcement means that Bowyer's current crew chief, Gil Martin, will stay with the No. 07 team. Casey Mears will drive for that team in 2009.
"Shane brings a great deal of knowledge and success, much of which he has earned since coming to RCR in 2006," Richard Childress said. "He will be able to hit the ground running since he's already familiar with and has been a part of the organization for the past three years. He and Clint have worked together a little bit and I'm confident they will complement each other in this new program."
Wilson, from South Royalton, Vt., was crew chief of RCR's No. 21 Nationwide Series team that won 10 races in 2006 and six more in 2007. He has worked this year with RCR's testing program and with development drivers Stephen Leicht and Austin Dillon.
