CONCORD, N.C. - Depending on how you look at it, Ryan Newman already has a promise - or a threat - from one of his Sprint Cup sponsors for 2009.
"They've already told me that they are going to push me out of a perfectly good airplane," Newman said Thursday as the U.S. Army was announced as his primary sponsor for 22 races, plus the NASCAR Sprint Cup All-Star Challenge in 2009.
Newman will move from Penske Racing to Stewart-Haas Racing, where he will drive the No. 39 Chevrolets next year.
Owner Tony Stewart said the team is close to naming a sponsor for the remaining races on Newman's car and hopes to have a crew chief for Newman named within a few weeks.
