Hamlin released from Alabama hospital

Driver Denny Hamlin was released this morning from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, where he had been held overnight for observation.

Hamlin was injured in a crash on Lap 99 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday. He was taken to the infield care center, then by ambulance to the hostpital.

Hamlin was leading the race when he lost his right-front tire and made heavy contact with the wall at an area covered by the SAFER barrier.

He's returning home to North Carolina today.
