TALLADEGA, Ala. - ABC's coverage of the Sprint Cup race at Kansas last Sunday earned a final national TV rating of 3.5, up from the 3.1 for last year's rain-delayed event, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The telecast averaged 5,691,928 viewers, an increase of 19 percent from last year.
ESPN2' coverage of the Nationwide Series event at Kansas earned a 1.3 final rating, the same as last year.
In the season' first two races in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, the ratings results have been mixed.
The Chase opener, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, garnered a 3.8 rating, up from a 3.3 a year ago. The Dover race received a 3.3 rating, down from a 3.5 in 2007.
