Mike Skinner will drive the No. 84 Toyotas for Red Bull Racing at Talladega and at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, then Scott Speed will drive the car for the remainder of 2008 season.
Tuesday morning’s announcement confirms expectations that AJ Allmendinger’s ninth-place finish at Kansas on Sunday was his final race in the No. 84.
"The schedule we put together is in the best interest of both Red Bull Racing Team and AJ's plans for the future,” said Jay Frye, the team’s vice president and general manager.
Speed also will try to make the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte in a No. 82 Toyota, a third car for Red Bull Racing. Speed also will be racing in an Automobile Racing Club of America series event at Toledo, Ohio, that weekend as he tries to win the championship in that series. Speed leads the current ARCA standings.
