Notes | New Hampshire track's Ron Meade remembered

Some short takes from the midweek notebook:

Jack Roush's cars posted a 1-2-3 finish Sunday at Dover International Speedway, but the owner of Roush Fenway Racing also got something to smile about Sunday from Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga. That's where Susan Roush-McClenaghan, Roush's daughter, got her first career victory in the Open Comp class at the 7th annual NMCA Muscle Car Nationals.

Wrangler Jeans is holding an online auction for a three-lap ride-along with Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The auction runs through 7 p.m. on Oct. 3. Fans can get more information or place bids at www.wrangler.com or www.ebay.com/wranglerjeans. The winner will get the ride on Oct. 29 along with transportation to Charlotte and other prizes.

Ron Meade, who was part of the original staff at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, died Saturday in Concord, N.H. Meade most recently served as the director of special projects at the speedway.

He was also very actively involved in the promotion of travel and tourism throughout New Hampshire.

Gifts and donations in remembrance of Meade can be sent to: The Lakes Region Hospitality Scholarship Fund, Ron Meade "On the Track to Tourism" Annual Scholarship, PO Box 430, New Hampton, NH 03256.
