Team owner confident in Carmichael's ability, will

DOVER, Del. - Kevin Harvick Inc. will field three teams in NASCAR's Truck series next season, adding former professional motocross and supercross racer Ricky Carmichael to its roster, team co-owner Kevin Harvick confirmed on Friday.

"We want to put Ricky in a third Truck. Obviously, we need to get the sponsorship and everything rounded up," Harvick said. "We're going to run him in some ARCA races, including the Talladega race, this year.

"He knows how to race, whether it's a car or truck or motorcycle. He knows how to race for a championship. He's got that will and determination to make something happen," Harvick said. "I like what he's done in the Camping World East series."

Carmichael is currently sixth in the Camping World East standings, with no wins, three top-five and six top-10 finishes in 11 starts.

"Ricky is a little bit green as far as being involved in stock car racing, but I think from everything we've seen, he's got the potential, and the learning curve should be faster for him," Harvick said.

The Harvick operation now fields two Truck series teams. Ron Hornaday Jr. is second the driver standings entering this weekend's event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Jack Sprague is eighth.

Harvick said KHI would also field one car full time in the Nationwide Series next season. Harvick will split time in the car with current KHI driver Cale Gale.
