Jimmie Johnson came to pit road one lap later than Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart did for their final stops in Sunday's race. But while Edwards and Stewart ran to the checkered flag Johnson had to coast home off the final turn.
“I'm really shocked we ran out,” said Johnson, who still managed to hold on for third. “I thought we had a lap and we ended up almost a corner short.”
Johnson said his car got a little bit too tight in the final run, and he also had to work to get around Scott Riggs before Riggs had to come in for fuel in his car. But Johnson still went home happy.
