Some short takes from the Daytona notebook:
FreeCreditReport.com will be the primary sponsor on the No. 38 Fords for David Gilliland in the Budweiser Shootout and the first six points races this year.
Jeremy Mayfield’s No. 70 Chevrolet will be sponsored by Junior Johnson’s Midnight Moon, a version of “moonshine” produced by Piedmont Distillers and named for the 1960 Daytona 500 champion who will drive the pace car for this year’s race.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway will pay the money back for 8,888 tickets to its 2009 Sprint Cup race if Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins this year’s championship. The first 8,888 who renew their 2008 tickets for the following year between Wednesday and Sunday will get their money back if Earnhardt Jr. is this year’s champion.
