Greg Tester, crew chief on the No. 71 Chevrolet driven by Ron Young in Saturday’s Busch Series race at Memphis, was fined $15,000 and suspended until Dec. 31 by NASCAR for having an unapproved shock absorber piston and base valves, found in postrace inspection.
Young lost 50 driver points and car owner Jerry Young lost 50 owner points.
Crew chief Tommy Perkins, from the No. 05 Chevrolet driven by Brett Rowe, was fined $2,000 and placed on probation for having unevenly spaced mounting points on the axle.
