Reutimann makes case for a Busch Series Chase, understands why Edwards might not

If David Reutimann had his way, the Busch Series would have a Chase for the championship just like it’s big brother, the Nextel Cup series.

That way, instead of trailing Busch Series leader Carl Edwards by an insurmountable 696 points heading into Friday night’s race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Reutimann, the series runner-up, would at least have a legitimate shot at the title.

“I would like to see a Chase format in the Busch Series,” Reutimann said. “If I was Carl Edwards, sitting in first, I wouldn’t like it, but the last few years the Busch Series championship has been a blowout.

“I would think with Nationwide coming into the sport as primary sponsor of the series, they’d want more hype and excitement for the last few races. All you ever hear about is the Chase because it is so close and unpredictable. I’d like to see that same hype in the Busch garage.”
