Despite a 55-race winless streak, Dale Earnhardt Jr. doesn’t lack confidence when it comes to Talladega Superspeedway.
The five-time Talladega winner believes he’s a favorite for Sunday’s race, and desperately wants to win it so he can close out an era at Dale Earnhardt Inc. It’s the final race for crew chief Tony Eury Jr., who is moving on to Hendrick Motorsports next week to prepare for Junior’s arrival at the end of the season.
“I’m here to win. I think I’ve got a good enough car. And I’m good enough. I’m the best here,” he said. “My car’s good enough and my team’s great, we’ve got a great shot.”
