Riggs says he wasn't certain about move until he got call from Rick Hendrick

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Dale Earnhardt Jr. isn’t the only Nextel Cup driver getting good job advice from team owner Rick Hendrick.

Scott Riggs on Friday credited a phone call from Hendrick for helping him decide to take a job next season with Hass CNC Racing, which uses chassis and engines made by Hendrick Motorsports in fielding its two-car Cup team.

“The thing that probably influenced me the most was the phone call I got from Rick Hendrick,” said Riggs, who will leave Gillett Evernham Motorsports at the end of the year.

“I talked to him a little bit about how that team is structured and the kind of resources that team is a part of. That was what made my decision pretty definite.”

Riggs still isn’t sure which team – the No. 66 or No. 70 – he will ne joining.

“There are still a lot of questions to be answered,” he said. "We still haven’t sat down with Matt Borland (director of competition) and really tried to figure out exactly ... what the team structure is going to be.”
