Gordon to notch 500th Cup straight start, more

Some short takes from the AP notebook at NHIS:

  • Jeff Gordon, whose Cup career began in the season-finale in 1992 at Atlanta, will start his 500th consecutive race on Sunday.
  • Clint Bowyer is the 14th different pole winner in 26 Cup races at New Hampshire.
  • Rick Hendrick and Jack Roush go into Sunday’s race as the winningest owners at NHIS with three victories apiece.
  • There have been six different race winners in the last six races here – Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch – and all but Newman are in the Chase field. Chase drivers Johnson, Gordon and Jeff Burton have also won at New Hampshire.
