Coors won’t be back as No. 40 sponsor

Coors beer will end its primary sponsorship of the No. 40 Dodges owned by Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates at the end of this season, ending a string of 14 years of that sponsor-car association.

“From a marketing perspective, one of the sport’s greatest assets is the variety of ways in which companies can be involved,” said Bryce McTavish, vice president of sponsorship and channel marketing for Coors. “We are evaluating a number of them.”

Steve Lauetta, president of the Ganassi team, said options for the car, driven by David Stremme, are being considered, adding that the team “has always prided itself on not only our long-term partnerships but also on our ability to attract new sponsors to the sport.”
