Jeff Gordon is going to have more points after 26 races than any other driver in Nextel Cup, but that’s not going to do him a lot of good when the Chase for the Nextel Cup starts.
Unless he or Jimmie Johnson wins here Sunday night or at Richmond next week, they’ll start the Chase with 5,040 points.
“I do think there should be some incentive for the guy who's leading at 26,” Gordon said.
"I think that you put a lot into the 26 races and basically you can end up 12th in the points and all of what you've done up to this point is pretty much gone.

"So yes, I would like to see them have some sort of a bonus whether it's money or points or something to reward what you've done for anybody that's been in this position.”
