Kyle Petty will return to driving duties this weekend and return behind the wheel of Petty Enterprises' No. 45 Dodge in Sunday's Sharp 500 at California Speedway.
Petty has missed the past two weeks with a broken hand when he hit the wall of his transporter during the race weekend at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.
"We’re going to get out there in the first practice session and just feel out the hand. Right now, it feels pretty good. I don’t expect I will have any problems," Petty said.
"My doctors worked hard repairing the bone that was broken. I really wanted to race last weekend at Bristol, but it wasn’t a good idea. Bristol is a tough track on you physically. California is much easier on your body."
