BRISTOL, Tenn. - It is too late to make the Chase for the Nextel Cup, but Bobby Labonte and Petty Enterprises are making big gains as the season winds down.
Labonte finished eighth in Saturday’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway – his second consecutive top-10 finish. He was ninth last week at Michigan. It’s the first time this season Labonte has scored consecutive top-10 finishes.
Labonte attributes some of his recent turnaround to the addition of new crew chief Doug Randolph.
“He is just really good on the radio; made some good calls,” Labonte said.

“At first our car was really good and we just kept hanging in there. We got a little tight towards the end and couldn’t go forward. All in all it was a great night.”
