The 2016 Oakland Athletics’ season has been one of streaks and sweeps. The A’s beat the Twins 5-1 Wednesday, wrapping up a three-game sweep of visiting Minnesota. It was the fourth series sweep by the A’s. They have also been swept four times this season. Oakland has four winning streaks of three games or more and six losing streaks of three games or more. Here is a breakdown of the streaks and sweeps this season:

The sweeps

April 8-10: The A’s sweep a three-game series in Seattle, outscoring the Mariners 11-4. Oakland hits four homers and pounds out 25 hits.

April 11-13: The Angels sweep a three-game series in Oakland. A’s pitchers give up 14 earned runs in the series.

April 19-21: The A’s sweep three from the Yankees in New York. Oakland scores 15 runs on 32 hits.

May 2-4: The A’s drop three to Seattle at home, allowing 21 earned runs on 41 hits.

May 9-11: The A’s are hammered in a three-game set in Boston, losing by a combined score of 40-15.

May 16-18: Oakland bounces back with a three-game sweep of Texas at home, hitting six homers.

May 19-22: The A’s are swept in a four-game series at home against the Yankees, scoring just nine runs.

May 30-June 1: The A’s take three from Minnesota at home. The A’s hit three homers and their starters allow just three earned runs.

The streaks

April 8-10: The first three-game winning streak comes in Seattle. The pitching staff allows just three earned runs.

April 11-15: The A’s lose three straight to the Angels and one to Kansas City at home. Oakland scores just eight runs during the skid.

April 16-22: Oakland bounces back to win six straight, starting with two against Kansas City at home. The A’s beat New York three times on the road and Toronto one time on the road.

April 23-25: The three-game slide starts with two losses in Toronto, before wrapping up with a loss to the Tigers in Detroit. The A’s are outscored 22-9 in three games.

May 1-4: A four-game slide starts with a home loss to Houston, and continues with three more home losses to the Mariners. The A’s blow an 8-4 lead against Seattle in the final loss of the skid.

May 7-11: The A’s lose five in a row on the road – two in Baltimore and three in Boston. They give up eight homers and 48 hits in Boston.

May 15-18: The A’s rip off a four-game winning streak, taking one from Tampa Bay on the road and three from Texas in Oakland. Danny Valencia hits four homers in the streak – three in a 7-6 win over Tampa Bay – and Khris Davis hits four – three in an 8-5 win over the Rangers.

May 19-22: The A’s lose four in a row to the Yankees in New York.

May 24-27: Oakland has a three-game slide, losing two in Seattle and one in Detroit before quickly righting the ship.

May 28-June 1: The day after their losing streak hits three, Oakland starts its current five-game winning streak. The A’s take two in Detroit before sweeping a three-game set with Minnesota at home.
