Downey High’s girls basketball team defeated Johansen 61-40 Thursday on its Senior Night night to sweep the season series with the Vikings and improve to 12-12.
The Knights can finish above .500 for the first time in more than a decade with a win over Beyer on Tuesday. However, the Knights are now out of playoff contention since Beyer holds the tiebreaker – points allowed to the league’s top teams.
Against Johansen, Alexis Razo had 18 points to lead Downey, while teammate Casanda White chipped in with 12. The Vikings’ Jamie Woodall led all scorers with 21.
MODESTO CHRISTIAN 78, BEYER 28, at Beyer – The Crusaders led 32-4 after one quarter and seemed destined to score 91, a number that would’ve kept Downey’s playoff hopes alive. But Beyer held MC to nine pints in the third quarter, all but clinching the league’s third and final playoff spot for the Pats.
Lailoni Gaines led MC with 18 points, while Candice White totaled 16 and Ashley Lucas chipped in with 10. Destiny Avelar led Beyer with 13.
ENOCHS 58, DAVIS 43, at Davis – The Eagles found themselves trailing 17-14 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Spartans 20-4 in the second to take control. Katie Dillon led Enochs with 13 points, while Mia Viss and Alexis Flores added 10 each.

The Lions finish the season Saturday at Elliot Christian in Lodi.
