High school boys basketball roundup: Williamson leads way to help Thunder cruise past Gustine

ATWATER -- Braden Williamson had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead host Buhach Colony to a 63-35 win over Gustine on Thursday in the first round of the Save Mart Holiday Classic.

South Lake Tahoe defeated Escalon 46-41 in another game. Escalon will play Gustine at 6:30 p.m. today, and Buhach Colony faces South Lake Tahoe at 8 at Buhach Colony. At Atwater, Waterford plays Manteca at 6:30, followed by Patterson vs. Atwater at 8.

PATTERSON 60, MANTECA 56 -- Robert Krager's tip-in with about two minutes left tied it for the Tigers, who won it with some big free throws at the end. Felix Mapanda led Patterson with 20 points. Kiwi Gardner had 25 points for Manteca.Denair Tournament

LE GRAND 63, DON PEDRO 29 -- Lupe Diaz had 16 points in helping the Bulldogs earn their first victory of the season.

Hilmar Tournament

HILMAR 59, DELHI 45 -- Luke Lamarre had 18 points and the Yellowjackets' full-court man defense held Delhi to two points in the second quarter. Hilmar (6-2) plays Brookside Christian tonight at 8:30.

BRET HARTE 62, BIG VALLEY CHR. 37 -- Clint Eastman had 14 points and Tim Minton and Will Finn 12 as the Bullfrogs (6-1) defeated the Lions.

BVC's Tucker Richardson had four blocks and 10 of his 12 points in the first half. Jared Lunsford had 11 points and six steals for the game. Big Valley (6-2) plays Calvary Temple today at 4.

MARIPOSA 63, CALVARY TEMPLE 32 -- Cody Wichmann had 17 points and Tim Oswald and Brad Spittle 14 each to lead the Grizzlies over the Warriors.

Other Tournaments

RIPON 60, CENTRAL VALLEY 54, at Granada Tournament -- With the score tied at 54-54 with a minute left, Kyle Wagner hit a jumper to give the Indians the lead for good.

Efren Sifuentes (19 points) hit two foul shots to make it a four-point lead with 10 seconds left, then Dane Wells stole the inbounds pass and went all the way to the basket to score as time ran out.

CV's Trevor Mew scored 22 of his 31 points in the second half and hit all four of his 3-pointers in that half.

Ripon plays St. Elizabeth at 6:30 tonight after CV plays Antioch at 5.

DOWNEY 62, VALLEJO 56, at Les Curry Invitational (Davis) -- A 3-pointer put Vallejo up by one with two minutes left, but Downey made big foul shots down the stretch.

Booker Hinton had 18 points and Nick O'Brian 17 for the Knights. Deleon McBride led Vallejo with 20.

BEAR CREEK 62, LIVINGSTON 50, at Ed Hopkins Memorial Tournament (Armijo High in Fairfield) -- Gurpreet Sangha had 18 points but the Wolves still fell.
