The high school wrestling postseason continues with five Sac-Joaquin Section divisional tournaments Friday and Saturday.
Modesto Metro Conference wrestlers travel to McNair High School in Stockton for the Section Division I-A tournament, beginning both days at 11 a.m. The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. with the finals at about 2:30 p.m. The top eight medalists in each weight class advance to the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters in Stockon on Feb. 27-28.
The rest of the lineup for the two-day divisionals:
D-I AA: At Delo Oro in Loomis, featuring the Central California Conference, finals Saturday at 4:30 p.m., top eight advance to Masters.
D-III: At River Valley High School in Yuba City, featuring the Valley Oak League, finals Saturday at 5:15 p.m., top four advance to Masters.
D-IV: At Foothill High School, Sacramento, featuring the Western Athletic Conference, finals Saturday at 5 p.m., top four advance to Masters.
D-V: At Sonora High School, featuring the Trans Valley, Southern and Mother Lode conferences, finals Saturday at 4 p.m., top four advance to Masters.
Wrestler of the Week: Grace Davis senior Bobby Posadas, ranked sixth in the section at 182 pounds, won the 184s at the MMC Championships last week at Enochs. The title meant a lot to Posadas, who reached the league finals as a freshman and a sophomore but defaulted due to injuries as a junior. Having broken through at the MMC meet, he’s raising his personal bar. Last year, he placed eighth at Masters, one win away from the state meet.
