If you are a bowler in Modesto, it’s time to have a voice in the local bowling decisions.

The annual meeting of the Modesto USBC is Sunday at 11 a.m. at McHenry Bowl. The agenda includes a look at the financials, committee reports and the election of a vice president and six directors. Also, delegates to the state and national conventions will be chosen. ...

Earl Purcell topped the men’s side of the Friday McHenry No-tap Tournament with a score of 944. Larry Bolles (880) was second and Claude Ham (878) third. High for the ladies was Suzanne Ruiz (887), who finished ahead of Brenda Perry (886) and Linda Standridge (866). Dave Castro rolled two no-tap 300 games, while Purcell and Bolles each had one. ...

Deana Swickard, Cindy James and Ray Swickard Sr. teamed up to win the Mixed Kegler Tournament at McHenry with a 2,571 score. Marion Roberts, John Garcia and Rick Lazaro (2,515) were second, followed by Dave Moren, Thomas Teague and Rick Ealy (2,429). ...

Two weekends are left to roll in the 65th Peach Classic Tournament at McHenry. The tournament fills up quickly the last few weekends so it’s best to reserve a spot. This year the prize fund is expected to exceed $30,000 to pay out the seven different prize funds. McHenry is offering an adult and youth bowling class for new bowlers. The adult class is on Tuesdays in August, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Youths roll on Thursdays in August, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The classes are free and teach bowling basics to nonleague bowlers. Entries are out for two statewide tournaments coming next month. For youth bowlers, the 2014 Ditty Watts Youth State Singles Challenge will run Aug. 16-17 at AMF Visalia Lanes. Qualifying for this event will be held Aug. 2-3 at six bowling centers throughout the state. The two closest to Modesto are in Rocklin and San Jose. There also is a Last Chance Squad in Visalia at 9 a.m. Aug. 16. Top finishers will earn scholarships in one of three divisions – boys scratch, girls scratch or handicap. Walk-ins are welcome. ...

For seniors 50 or older, the 2014 Senior State Singles will run at AMF Cerritos Lanes on Aug. 22-24. There will be six divisions based on age and separate lists for men and women. Bowlers will roll six games and winners will represent California in the National Championships. Entries close Aug. 1. ...

Put on your cowboy boots and join the fun. “Western Rodeo” is the theme of this week’s Rock-n-Bowl at McHenry. Country music, prizes, photo ops and line dancing are on tap this Friday from midnight until 2:30 a.m. A drawing will be held for a pair of tickets to the Dierks Bentley concert at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View on July 31.
