Stockton Ports slam Modesto Nuts to complete three-game sweep

Renato Nunez belted a first-inning grand slam and Ryon Healy added a solo shot to lead the Stockton Ports to a 7-2 victory over the Modesto Nuts on Thursday night at Stockton’s Banner Island Ballpark.

The Nuts scored twice in the first, the first run coming on a leadoff homer to right off the bat of Rosell Herrera and the second courtesy of an error that allowed Chris O’Dowd, who doubled, to come home.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Nunez provided all the runs Stockton would need with a bases-loaded blast off Modesto starter Devin Burke (5-7). The left hander was tagged for six runs on seven hits in four innings. Stockton starter Josh Bowman (2-6) allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings.
