Local Digest: Nuts fall to Blaze in ninth

John Tolisano singled in a run with the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead Bakersfield to a 3-2 victory over the Modesto Nuts on Saturday.

Modesto’s Michael Tauchman homered to lead off the top of the seventh to tie the game at 2-2.

The Nuts had two runners on and one out in the top of the ninth, but Matt Wessinger grounded into a double play.

Devin Burke, Modesto’s starter who had pitched well through eight innings, gave up back-to-back singles to open the ninth before allowing a walk to load the bases. He was replaced by Shane Broyles, who gave up the single to Tolisano.
