Oklahoma rushes for an NCAA-record 768 yards, including 123 by quarterback Charles Thompson. Thompson scores three touchdowns and passes for one in the first period of a 70-24 rout of Kansas State.

1995

The Carolina Panthers beat the New York Jets 26-15 for their first NFL victory.

2000

For the first time in NFL history, a game starts with back-to-back touchdown returns on kickoffs. Atlanta's Darrick Vaughn returns the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown, and St. Louis matches the Falcons immediately as Tony Horne takes the ball 3 yards deep in the end zone and runs down the sideline for a game-tying score. St. Louis wins 45-29.
