SaberCats to face Philly in Arena Bowl

SAN JOSE -- Mark Grieb threw eight scoring passes, five to Cleannord Saintil, and the San Jose SaberCats advanced to Arena Bowl XXII with an 81-55 win over the Grand Rapids Rampage on Saturday.

Omarr Smith intercepted a team playoff-record three passes that led to touchdowns for the defending-champion SaberCats (13-5). They'll play first-time Arena Bowl participant Philadelphia, which beat the Cleveland Gladiators 70-35. Arena Bowl XXII is July 27 in New Orleans.

"Getting another shot at it seems almost surreal," Grieb said. "It's kind of crazy we're going back after last year."

Grieb now has 104 career playoff touchdown throws. Saintil caught 11 passes for 113 yards. Grieb, who led the league with 100 touchdown passes, threw for 249 yards on 24-of-30 passing. Jason Geathers caught two scoring passes, ran for one and returned an interception for a score on the final play.

Jam MacPherson threw four touchdowns passes and ran for two as the Rampage (8-11) saw its five-game winning streak end.

SOUL 70, GLADIATORS 35, at Philadelphia -- Matt D'Orazio, playing for injured former Downey High star Tony Graziani, threw eight touchdown passes to lead Philadelphia over Cleveland.
