The Cal State Stanislaus baseball team routed Cal Poly Pomona 15-5 and 11-0 Saturday at Pomona's Scolinos Field, and can win a spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament with a win today.
Stanislaus can also get in with a Cal State L.A. loss at San Francisco State.
Two pitching performances anchored the day for the Warriors (35-19, 23-12 CCAA), who backed up their hurlers with 26 runs.
Warrior ace Marquis Fleming threw five innings of no-hit ball in Game 1 after allowing three runs in the first, to pick up his 11th win. The Warriors pounded out 15 hits in the opener and were helped by four Broncos errors. Dennis Wolfe was 4-for-5 with two triples, a home run and three RBIs to lead Stanislaus.
Freshman Andrew Stueve pitched a five-hit shutout in the nightcap, striking out eight. Jake Oketani was 3 for 4 and Adam Fonville went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs to lead the Warriors. Fonville went 2 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs in the opener.
Stanislaus is one win away from tying the school record for wins in a season, set by the 1976 Division III team.
