SEASIDE -- Medalist Erick Justesen led the Cal State Stanislaus golf team to the team title in the Otter Invitational that concluded Tuesday at the 6,958-yard Bayonet Golf Course.
Stanislaus, which led by 10 over runner-up Washburn after two rounds, shot a 297-300-300 -- 897 to Washburn's 906. It is the Warriors' second team win and seventh consecutive top-four finish.
Justesen, second after Monday's play behind teammate Ryan Nickell, shot a 2-over-par 74 on a windy Tuesday for a 223 total and won medalist honors by two shots.
Justesen, the defending CCAA champion, also won the Sonoma State Men's Invite on Oct. 22-23.
Jason McHargue of Stanislaus closed with a 76 to finish tied for seventh at 227. Other Warriors: 11. Andy Moren, 229; 15. Jesse Contreras (71, low round of day), 230; 19, Nickell (84), 232.
Stanislaus will wrap up its regular season with its own Stanislaus/Buzzini Invitational next Monday and Tuesday.
The 16-team tournament will be held at the Turlock Golf and Country Club. The Warriors will defend their CCAA title the following week at the CCAA Championships in Paso Robles.
CU-STEVINSON RANCH INVITATIONAL -- New Mexico State posted the best team score in Tuesday's final round, coming from two strokes back after 36 holes to post an eight-stroke win in the 10th annual event hosted by University of Colorado.
NMSU finished with an 8-over-par 872 after Tuesday's 1-over 289. Runner-up Saint Mary's was at 880, with host Colorado third. The average score for the tournament on the 7,144-yard, par-72 layout was 76.1.
Oklahoma City's Anthony Michael matched the second best score in tournament history, a 6-under 66, to go from an eighth-place tie and five strokes back after two rounds to medalist honors and a three-stroke victory with a 4-under 212.
MJC, at Chico -- Led by Robbie Freese (77) and Chris Jamero (79), Modesto finished seventh in the Big 8 Conference Tournament at Bidwell Park.
MJC 3-0, AMERICAN RIVER 0-5, at Modesto -- Kacey Beard threw a two-hit shutout and Missy Corral drove in a run and scored one in the 3-0 victory.
Stephanie Burlew of ARC (19-16,8-5) blanked the Pirates (16-25,5-8) on six hits in the nightcap. Melinda Moreno was 2 for 2 with a double for Modesto.
MERCED COLLEGE 8, WEST HILLS 0, at Coalinga -- Deborah McCollom tossed a five-hitter as the She-Devils blanked the Falcons in Central Valley Conference play.
Megan McColloch and Nicole Blades-Moore had two hits and two RBIs for Merced, and Monica Hall was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
MERCED COLLEGE 3, TAFT COLLEGE 1, at Merced -- Brian Gilbertson of the Blue Devils (25-8, 12-4 CVC) threw a four-hitter to improve his record to 9-2. Wes Borba contributed two hits and two RBIs.
Taft fell to 10-25, 4-11 in league.
