Jacob Smart shot a 6-over-par 78 and Victtor Lopez an 81 to lead Central Catholic High to a 50-stroke victory in the Western Athletic Conference Mid-year Tournament on Monday in Antioch.
Smart, a sophomore, had two 39s with "no double bogeys on a course that was playing very tough," Central coach Dave Quintal said.
Hilmar coach Ty Pettigrew said Roddy Ranch is a links course, and the first five holes played into the wind and Nos. 6-8 downwind.
"It wasn't an easy day," Pettigrew said.
Clayton Aguilar (80) of Orestimba, Duffy Murphy (82) of Livingston and Travis Little (84) of Hilmar were the only other players in the 80s.
McNAIR INVITATIONAL, at Stockton -- Johansen was sixth among 24 teams with a score of 426, led by Daniel Covrig's 6-over 78 at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
"Daniel said he didn't putt very well, but with the medalist shooting 74, he was pretty close to the leaders," Johansen coach Dan Boer said, noting Covrig finished 10th individually. "It was a windy day, which made it hard to hit greens." FREEDOM HIGH TOURNAMENT, at Brentwood -- Kameron Holguin shot a career-best 77 for Turlock Christian, which finished 11th in the event at Shadow Lakes.

RIPON 3, ESCALON 2, at Escalon -- Callie Jacobs took a cross from Meredith Perkins and scored with four minutes to go to give the Indians (10-4-1, 5-1 TVL) a victory over the Cougars (2-3 TVL). It was Jacobs' second goal of the game, and she had an assist.
OTTER INVITATIONAL, at Seaside -- Cal State Stanislaus shot rounds of 297 and 300 for a 597 total and a 10-stroke lead in the 10-team event at Bayonet Golf Course. Ryan Nickell of Stanislaus shot a 72-76 -- 148 and is the individual leader.
High School Softball
RIPON CHRISTIAN 12, MILLENNIUM 6, at Tracy -- Brianna Devries drove in four runs with a triple, double and single, and winning pitcher Sarah Nieweg had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Knights (2-6-2) over the Falcons.
