Boys high school basketball: Weston Ranch nabs Tracy title


TRACY -- James Nunnally had a triple-double Saturday night to lead Weston Ranch High to an 81-69 win over Edison-Stockton in the championship game of the Tracy Winter Holiday Classic.

Nunnally had 27 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists as the four-day boys basketball tournament concluded with all of Saturday's games at West High.

Chris Gray was tough inside, adding 22 points and seven rebounds for the champions, while Trumaine Johnson led Edison with 21 points.

Weston Ranch and Edison also clashed in last year's Tracy finals -- the Cougars also prevailed last year.

MANTECA 58, MODESTO 31 -- The Buffaloes' Kiwi Gardner scored 11 of his 19 points in the second quarter, helping his team top the Panthers in the seventh-place game. Manteca outscored Modesto 19-6 in that quarter.

LIVINGSTON 74, FRANKLIN-STOCKTON 70 -- Harnarinder Johal, a 6-foot-5 post player, had 39 points for the Wolves as they won the 11th-place game. Johal had 16 points in the first quarter. Xavier Wilford led Franklin with 18 points.

LOS BANOS 55, TOKAY 47 -- Los Banos won the 13th-place game by outscoring Tokay 38-24 in the second half. Los Banos' Phil Etcheverry scored eight of his 13 points in the third quarter, and the victors were 8-of-10 from the foul line in the fourth.
