Error causes some stories to be left out
Due to an inadvertent error, the final edition version of Page C-4 did not make it onto the press and into Friday's paper. For many of our readers, that means some stories were incomplete or missing altogether. All stories can be found at www.modbee.com, and The Bee apologizes for any inconvenience the error caused.
Cross country's best run today in Folsom
The Sac-Joaquin Section Cross Country Championships will be held today at the Willow Hill course next to Folsom High School. Shortstop Vizquel returning to Giants
Omar Vizquel got his wish to return to the San Francisco Giants. The 11-time Gold Glove shortstop agreed Friday to a $5.3 million, one-year contract, a deal that includes a club option that could make it worth $10.2 million over two seasons. "I'm pretty excited because the Giants gave me another opportunity to be with the team after the disappointing year I had," Vizquel said. While Vizquel, 40, struggled offensively for most of the season and batted just .246, his sparkling defense still makes him among the top shortstops in the game. Vizquel gets $5 million next season, and the Giants have a $5.2 million option for 2009 with a $300,000 buyout.
Both Stanford teams won in convincing fashion Friday on a busy night in college basketball. The No. 7 women's team crushed Yale 100-44, and the 23rd-ranked men also handled an Ivy League opponent, cruising past Harvard 111-56. See Page C-5 for more college hoop scores.
