Reds hire Baker

Former Giants manager Dusty Baker was hired to manage the Cincinnati Reds, agreeing to a three-year deal Saturday with a team coming off its seventh straight losing season and looking for stability at the top. The 58-year-old Baker, a three-time Manager of the Year during his 10 seasons with San Francisco, worked in television for a year after the Chicago Cubs fired him after the 2006 season. The Reds decided to go for someone who knows the NL Central and has been to the World Series as a manager. The team didn't make an announcement Saturday, but a person within the organization with knowledge of the negotiations confirmed the Reds had reached the agreement with Baker. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the move hadn't been announced. The deal was first reported by The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Pettersen, Ochoa share Samsung lead

Suzann Pettersen, coming off a playoff victory over Lorena Ochoa last weekend, birdied the final four holes Saturday to charge into a tie with the top-ranked Mexican star in the Samsung World Championship. Pettersen shot an 8-under 64 to match Ochoa at 12-under 204 through three rounds at Big Horn Golf Club. Ochoa, the defending champion in the event for the LPGA Tour's elite players, had a 69 that included a bogey 5 on the final hole. Page C-3

Holyfield loses bout

Current WBO heavyweight champion Sultan Ibragimov (right) sends a right to challenger Evander Holyfield, who turns 45 next week, during their title match at the Khodynka Arena in Moscow on Saturday. Ibragimov retained his title with a unanimous decision. Page C-6
