TURLOCK -- Bri McClain scored her team-high sixth goal of the season and Tiffani Moore her third as Cal State Stanislaus defeated Mesa State of Colorado 2-1 in a nonconference women's soccer game Sunday at Warrior Soccer Field.

McClain's goal came at 2 minutes, 26 seconds of the first half on a lead pass from Cherie Early. It was Early's sixth assist this season.

Moore scored on a header at 55:12 to give the Warriors (7-6-1) a 2-1 lead over Mesa (5-5-2).

"Bri did an outstanding job keeping possessions all game and scored a beautiful goal on a play we have been working on all year," coach Gabe Bolton said.

Stanislaus outshot the Mavericks 13-11 and had three goals called back due to offside infractions.

"We played some of our best possession soccer of the year and created a lot of opportunities for ourselves," Bolton said.

The Warriors play at Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday.
