BC striker's 3 goals top GV, father

MERCED -- Golden Valley's Lee Shaw walked off the field with mixed emotions Thursday.

The Cougars' soccer coach had just seen his son, Marcus, score three goals in the final 11 minutes to lead his team to victory.

It was a show that would make any father proud. Only problem was, Marcus plays at Buhach Colony.

His hat trick led the Thunder to a 5-1 Central California Conference over GV, keeping BC (10-1-3, 4-0-1) in first place.

"He (Marcus) was nice after the game," Lee said. "He said 'Dad, I love you,' which was nice, but he wasn't very nice during the game.

"I told him no dinner tonight." Lee said jokingly.

Shaw has coached many of the Buhach players, including his son, on a club team. This is his first season with GV (2-6-1, 0-4-1).
