The Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team won its first conference match Sunday, defeating Cal State Monterey Bay 4-1 at Warrior Field.
Cherie Early opened the scoring for Stanislaus (3-3-1 overall, 1-0-1 California Collegiate Athletic Association) in the 23rd minute, when she placed a shot in the upper-left corner of the net.
Adrienne Sorenson gave the Warriors a 2-0 halftime lead when she headed in a loose ball in front of the Monterey (0-2 CCAA) net. Tiffani Moore and Bri McClain added second half goals for Stanislaus, which next plays at Sonoma State on Friday.
CAL STATE STANISLAUS MEN 0, CAL STATE MONETERY BAY 0, at Turlock -- Goalkeeper Mando Herrera recorded his third shutout of the season as Stanislaus (1-3-2 overall, 0-1-1 CCAA) held on for the draw against Monterey Bay.
