"One of the things we were looking to improve was our middle attack," Winfrey said. "Our middle was more effective and that opened up the outside hitting for us. That's how Mikkelsen got the kills she got."
Brittany Nelson had 21 assists and Corrisa Jacomini led with 11 digs.
CHICO ST. 3, CSU STANISLAUS 0, at Chico -- The No. 19 Wildcats won the California Collegiate Athletic Association opener 30-11, 30-22, 30-25.
Stanislaus got off to a slow start, but played tougher in the second and third games, coach Chris Difani said.
