CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Ryan Goins hit a two-run double in the eighth inning, leading the Charlotte Knights to a 13-7 win over the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday.
The double by Goins started the scoring in a six-run inning and gave the Knights a 9-7 lead. Later in the inning, Daniel Palka and Matt Skole hit back-to-back three-run and solo home runs.
Caleb Frare (1-0) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Zack Weiss (0-1) took the loss in the International League game.
In the losing effort, Rochester got contributions throughout its order, as six players recorded at least two hits. Drew Maggi homered and singled three times, scoring a pair of runs while also driving home a couple.
