The woman whose body was found in a field south of Highway 108 had been reported missing last month after she walked away from the Sonora Regional Medical Center where she was a patient.
Marlo Sue Chadwick, 64 of Jamestown, had been admitted to the hospital for a mandatory psychiatric hold, according to Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Wilson.
A county behavioral health worker reported her missing July 1.
Her body was found in the field Sunday by a man who was searching for coins with a metal detector, Wilson said.
Chadwick’s body was so badly decomposed that a cause of death could not be determined; however, foul play is not suspected.
