A 2-year-old Modesto boy is in stable condition this morning, a day after he ran onto West Orangeburg Avenue and was struck by a car, according to the Modesto Police Department.

The tot was taken by ambulance to a hospital and treated for fractures and facial cuts, said Sgt. Brian Findlen.

Findlen said the boy ran into the eastbound lane of Orangeburg from the parking lot of a Denny’s Restaurant at about 6 p.m. Sunday. He was struck by a Nissan coupe driven by a 19-year-old Modesto woman.

There was no further information on the speed she was driving, how the boy made it into the street or if any citations would be issued. Findlen said all those facts are being investigated by the the department’s traffic unit.
