A Riverbank teenager is in the hospital after falling from a beachside cliff near Bodega Bay Sunday evening.
The boy’s name has not been released. He had what appeared to be moderate injuries following the fall, according to a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department press release.
According to the department, bystanders said the boy was climbing up a 30-foot cliff about 6 p.m. at Schoolhouse Beach when, near the top, he fell backwards and landed on the rocks below. First responders had to hike across the beach to reach him. The nearest trail was 300-yards away so they transported him by sheriff’s helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to the release.
