MERCED -- Police are seeking three suspects in the brutal stabbing of a man Sunday outside the McDonald’s restaurant at Carol Avenue and Motel Drive.
The victim, Jesse Rojas, 21, was flown to a hospital in Fresno — and the crime is believed to be gang-related, according to police.
Police responded to the scene after a fight occurred between rival Norteno and Sureno gang members in the restaurant’s parking lot.
Police said a Merced County sheriff's deputy, who happened to be in the drive-through of the restaurant, was informed of the fight by employees.
The deputy drove to the other side of the building and found the victim, who had been beaten and stabbed several times, police said.
After the stabbing, police say the suspects fled in two separate cars. The suspects are all Hispanic men in their early 20s.
