Modesto police arrested a woman after she fled from an officer and appeared to have tossed a loaded gun as she ran, officials reported today.
At 12:35 a.m. Monday, officer Manuel Corona tried to stop Natera Assandaki Stickler, 23, of Modesto in a car near Chicago and Mayette avenues, said Lt. Scott Blom.
Stickler drove east toward the Modesto Municipal Golf Course at 400 Tuolumne Blvd.
“The car took off on him and crashed near the Muni golf course,” Blom said, and Stickler fled on foot.
Officers set up a perimeter and captured her shortly afterward. Near her car, Blom said, officers found a loaded, unregistered .357 Magnum handgun.
Stickler, who was on probation, is being held at the Public Safety Center on $20,000 bail on suspicion of evading a police officer, carrying a loaded handgun and probation violation.
