A man whom sheriff’s deputies believe was connected to a Waterford burglary died during his arrest this morning, officials said.
Sheriff’s deputy Royjindar Singh said he couldn’t release the man’s name until his family is notified.
Deputies responded around 8:30 a.m. to a report of a possible burglary in progress on the 300 block of South Western Ave.
When they got to the home, Singh said, they confronted the man outside. Deputies tased, then handcuffed him.

He continued to struggle with deputies, Singh said. Deputies used a wrap to control his legs. The man stopped breathing while deputies were placing the wrap, Singh said.
Deputies called for an ambulance and the fire department. The man was pronounced dead a short time later, though Singh could not say whether this happened at the scene or at the hospital.
