On behalf of Congregation Beth Shalom, we really appreciate the recent extensive coverage in The Bee of our recent Tu B’Shvat tree-planting event, ritual Seder meal and Grace Lieberman concert.
Despite stormy weather, more than 30 members showed up to help plant 12 new trees at Cesar Chavez park. We are very happy to have gifted these trees in celebration of the ancient New Year of the Trees. According to Judaism, we have an obligation as humans to care for this world and all of its diverse plant and animal species; to leave the world in better condition than we found it. Many thanks to everyone who helped with the planting on Feb. 8, particularly Steve Peeples, Forestry Preservation Crew Leader from the city. It was great to be joined by city councilwoman Jenny Kenoyer.
Beth Shalom takes pride in being the only Jewish congregation in the entire county. For almost 100 years we have continued to provide a wide range of Jewish cultural, educational, social and community service programs in addition to weekly Shabbat (sabbath) Services and holiday celebrations.
