Richard Allred: Super wells source of water troubles

Re “Emergency plan on the table” (Page A1, Sept. 23): After reading the article in The Modesto Bee, I was thinking that “Wow, what a big, expensive, all-inclusive plan.” Only what if the county would shut off some of the super wells east of Oakdale might the water level equal out or maybe rise a bit. Those big almond companies, it seems to me, are stealing water from everybody downstream. Granted, I know nothing of water tables and such, but it seems common sense would lead me to go to the start of such trouble and it appears to have started after a number of super wells were installed east of Oakdale.
