Over a decade ago, I timidly walked into the counseling office of MJC. There I met a treasure, Ron Tingley.
He was encouraging to this middle-age returning potential student. Kind beyond words and friendly.
He helped me define my goals, worked out a plan to accomplish them and remained available with guidance throughout my time at MJC. He took a genuine interest in my life and my studies.
Upon news of his death (Sept. 8), I am so sad for his wife, whom he always spoke about with such affection and respect. It is a huge loss to MJC and the community.
May his memory be a blessing and may his spirit fly free. A gentle soul has left us much too soon.
