Let me preface this letter by saying I am not a military expert. I was drafted into the Army in 1964 and spent two years as a chaplain’s assistant.
Yet, I cannot understand the military or President Barack Obama’s gameplan on fighting the Islamic State. We are told that there are about 30,000 ISIS troops. Obama has said he is getting a coalition of 40 nations to fight the ISIS crisis. If there is a true coalition, Obama should be able to get 10 or 15 countries to put 10,000 boots on the ground each. That would give the coalition 100,000 to 150,000 troops to fight 30,000.
It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that ISIS would not have a snowball’s chance in Hades of defeating such numbers. I am sure we have the intelligence to determine where they are, where their finances are, where their oil control is and where their leaders are. Just think, if President Roosevelt had sent 10,000 troops to invade Normandy, we would all be speaking German. God Bless America.
