Re “Too much firepower in police hands” (Letters, Sept. 11): Every year 150 police officers are killed in the line of duty in our country. If an armored vehicle or some other defensive weapon can save the life of just one police officer, so be it! Thugs and criminals on our streets today are armed with military-type weapons and our police need the equipment to repel the dangers these criminals pose to our society.
To state that police are blessed with divine judgment to do as they please is ridiculous.
But then again, we’ve seen this kind of babble before.
